What you'll need

Requirements & first-launch flow

flexVox runs on iPhone and iPad, iOS 26.4 or later. The App Store listing handles install — these are the few things to set up afterward.

  1. 01

    Open the app

You'll land on an empty Project List with a greeting, a full-width New Episode button, and three compact sample cards below — Interview, Audio Drama, and True Crime. Tap any sample to spin up a pre-loaded project, or "+" in the toolbar for all five templates.

  2. 02

    (Optional) Add your ElevenLabs key

Open Settings → API Keys. Paste an ElevenLabs key (free tier available at elevenlabs.io). Tap Save & Test Connection; flexVox fetches available voices and shows the count. Keys are stored in the iOS Keychain.

  3. 03

(Optional) Add OpenAI or Claude for AI script writing

Settings → API Keys → AI Providers. Configure either provider, or both. Switch between them at generation time from the inline picker.

  4. 04

Or stay in demo mode and just explore

With no API key, flexVox runs the entire workflow with silent placeholder audio. Every screen and every feature is reachable. When you're ready for real audio, add the key — your projects carry over.

An honest first 15 minutes

  2. Skim the parsed turns. Confirm a couple of speakers if any are highlighted.
  3. Tap Voice Mapping. Hit Auto-Cast All (Studio) or assign manually.
  4. Tap Quick Preview to audition your cast on the first ~2,000 characters.

  7. Re-cast a voice or regenerate a single line if anything feels off. Variants stack; pick your favorite.
  8. Press Cmd+E, pick an export preset, share via AirDrop or Files.
